The artist has handed over the full amount of his twenty-five thousand pound Mercury Prize prize money to the Music Venues Trust, which works to preserve the Britain's small concert spaces.
The star was given the prize on mid-October as his third album the album was named the best record of the previous year.
He has decided to donate the funds to the trust, in recognition of the essential function small stages fulfilled in his early career.
"I personally would not have achieved my current career if it wasn't for all the shows I did around the area, and elsewhere, when I was just getting going," said Sam Fender. "These locations are iconic, but they are in difficulty."
Since the start of 2023, at least 150 of these locations have ceased operations – roughly one-sixth of the whole industry in the UK.
In the last year, major artists like Pulp, the group Coldplay, Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to keep the scene afloat, by adding a small levy to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.
Sam Fender also joined in, generating in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help 38 grassroots venues across the UK.
The money supported spaces that were facing imminent closure due to challenges stemming from floods, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as permit problems, court cases and noise complaints.
Additional spaces were granted monetary aid in modernizing infrastructure and gear that positively impacted performers and concertgoers.
"The concept that funds from shows in big venues backs the smaller venues, where it begins for artists like me, is just sensible," Fender has said.
Fender is not the first artist to contribute his honor prize money to worthy causes.
When they earned the trophy in 1996 for their album the album, frontman Cocker stated that the act would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.
During 2002, rapper and singer the artist split her prize among several organizations, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.
"I also contributed a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was younger and they lacked updated gear," she told a publication.
Previously, Ezra Collective donated their funds to the youth organization that nurtured their act, alongside other grassroots music organisations.
Additionally 1994 winners M People donated their winnings to a charity for MS after a close contact was found to have the condition.
"Receiving the award was quite enough," stated vocalist the singer. "The cash was the bonus but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the honor. So our winning impacted another person's life."
Recently, the MVT announced it had protected two grassroots venues in south-east England, by bringing them into local control.
The Joiners in Southampton and the other in the city were bought under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who purchase "ownership units" in the venues.
